ABOUT:

Heejung was born and raised in Incheon, South Korea. From a young age, she started training in the hapkido, a highly eclectic Korean martial art. After training for more than 10 years, she set her sights on another kind of art, and joined a hip-hop dance team, eventually leading the crew and performing across the country. Later she experimented with lots of other styles of dance, and joined the booming Korean Lindy Hop scene where she both taught and competed. 

Heejung moved to New York in 2008. It was there that she really first learned and fell in love with West Coast Swing, attending her first event after learning for just two weeks. After training intensively in West Coast Swing, she returned to Korea and co-founded Westie Korea, the longest running West Coast Swing Community in Korea in 2009. Since then, she has been the heart and soul of the Korean WCS community, providing instruction, support, smiles and her unlimited passion to the ever-growing scene.
